Gorman warfare

Joe Gorman says he already knows enough about his new team-mates to assert that Cliftonville will soon play their way out of the slump they have recently found themselves in.

Ahead of tomorrow’s Danske Bank Premiership encounter with Ards at Solitude, the Dublin native is determined to play his part in setting the foundations from which the Reds can rediscover their best form.

“It’s important to keep a clean sheet,” explains the 24-year-old.

“If you keep a clean sheet, you’ll have a chance in the game. That’s my main priority because if the defenders can keep a clean sheet, it will let the forwards do their job.

“We’ve taken a bit of slack at the moment but if the supporters stand by us, we’ll get though the rut. That’s definitely one hundred per cent going to happen.”

You can read the full Gorman interview in tomorrow’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for £2.50.

Alongside your latest player poster, The Red Eye’s 18th issue of the campaign reflects on Ards’ own priorities for the second half of the season and steps 95, 62 and 17 years back down memory lane – plus plenty more besides.

Our Matchday Magazine has attained a top-three position in the NI Football Programme Collectors’ annual awards poll for the last seven seasons – assuming the runners-up position on six of those occasions – so, if you’re not a regular reader, why not take a look at what you’ve been missing out on?
