Brush hour

Richard Brush says Cliftonville are in a hurry to inject momentum into their season, but is well aware of the threat Glentoran will pose to those aspirations tomorrow.

The Reds, who approach the game on the back of a morale-boosting victory over Coleraine last time out, came out on top when the sides met on the opening day of the Danske Bank Premiership campaign, however Brush is all too aware of how well the Glens reacted to that setback and expects a stern battle at Solitude this weekend.

“The first game of the season at The Oval was a tight fought game – a late win,” recalls the 33-year-old.

“Glentoran have been on a decent run since and we’ve been quite patchy. Hopefully we can get on a little curve and throw a few results together to get moving in the right direction.”

You can read the full Brush interview in tomorrow’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for £2.50.

Alongside boss Barry Gray’s pre-match views, The Red Eye’s 11th issue of the campaign reflects on the Glens’ campaign to date, delivers your latest player poster and steps 17, 34 and 67 years back down memory lane – and plenty more besides.

Our Matchday Magazine has attained a top-three position in the NI Football Programme Collectors’ annual awards poll for the last seven seasons – assuming the runners-up position on six of those occasions – so, if you’re not a regular reader, why not take a look at what you’ve been missing out on?
