After an impressive spell with the Cliftonville Academy, Paddy joined Glenavon in 2017 and, alongside the Premiership experience he garnered at Mourneview Park, also enjoyed a loan spell with Knockbreda.
After three years with Notre Dame University – with whom he won the Atlantic Coast Conference title in 2021 – left-back Burns returned to Solitude on the final day of the 2023/24 winter Transfer Window.
