Hall of Fame: Brian Johnston

Brian Johnston was inducted to the John McCredy McAlery Hall of Fame in May 2019.

Goalkeeper in the 1979 Irish Cup Final victory over Portadown, Johnston was the only member of that season’s squad to play in all 47 fixtures, the last of which saw him produce further heroics when Cliftonville overcame Crusaders on penalties in the County Antrim Shield Final at Seaview.

In total, Brian made 250 appearances across eight seasons with the Reds, whose supporters still harbour fond recollections of his abilities between the posts.
