That Quinning feeling
Cliftonville 1-0 Glentoran
A solitary strike from Ben Quinn got Cliftonville back to winning ways in this evening’s County Antrim Shield quarter-final tussle at Solitude.
The only goal of the contest came nine minutes into the second-half and came largely thanks to the quick thinking of goalkeeper PJ Morrison who, having gathered a corner delivery, launched the ball in Quinn’s direction to set up a counter attack. Though initially kept at bay by a Glens defender, the ball was returned to Quinn by Brian Healy and his touch was enough to beat Billy Crellin and find the net.
Healy, Rory Hale and Harry Wilson all went close to extending the Reds’ advantage and, though both Ross Clarke and Ben Gallagher rattled the woodwork at the other end, Cliftonville were well worth the win that sets up a semi-final showdown with Bangor next month.
