Higg intentions
Cliftonville Ladies are delighted to announce the signing of Emma Higgins.
The 87-times capped international goalkeeper arrives at Solitude from Lisburn Rangers and adds a wealth of top level experience to the Reds’ changing room.
After spending her formative years with Ballymena United Allstars and Glentoran Belfast United, Higgins spent three seasons with Leeds United before undertaking a move to Iceland, where she played for Grindavik and KR.
After returning to England with Doncaster Rovers Belles, a second stint with Grindavik followed with Selfoss providing her final Icelandic adventure ahead of a move to Glentoran Women in 2019.
There, she was a key part of the Glens side that savoured repeated domestic success and regularly battled with Cliftonville on the trophy trail before taking a step back from football to concentrate on family and work commitments.
Since joining Lisburn Rangers in 2024, Higgins – who made her first senior appearance for Northern Ireland at the age of 17 – has proven herself a standout performer in the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership and all at the Reds are thrilled to this afternoon welcome her to north Belfast.
