Shelbourne 3-1 Cliftonville Ladies

A youthful Cliftonville Ladies side exited the Women’s All-Island Cup with a quarter-final defeat to Shelbourne this afternoon.

Shorn of a host of experienced names, the Reds travelled to Tolka Park plotting an almighty upset but fell behind when Aoibheann Clancy netted from the penalty spot on 17 minutes.

The same player doubled Shels’ advantage before the break and, though Lucy Kelly reduced the arrears three minutes into the second-half, the Reds’ bid to stage yet another All-Island Cup comeback was undone when Becky Watkins claimed the hosts’ third in the closing stages.
