Cliftonville Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of Luke McNicholas on loan from Sligo Rovers.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper, who has represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-18 level, moved to The Showgrounds from Manulla in 2019 and signed a new deal with the Airtricity Premier Division Club in January of this year before commencing a brief loan spell at Finn Harps – a move which, coincidentally, led to Rovers boss Liam Buckley signing Richard Brush from the Reds as cover.

Mayo man McNicholas featured in both legs of Sligo’s Europa Conference League tie with Hafnarfjardar last month and will be part of the Cliftonville panel for this evening’s pre-season friendly with Dungannon Swifts at Solitude (7.30pm).
