Carey the day

Cliftonville Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Aaron McCarey.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper arrives from Dundalk and met his new team-mates ahead of this evening’s training session at Solitude.

Formerly with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ross County, Aaron has represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-17, Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 level and was selected in senior squads by both Giovanni Trapattoni and Martin O’Neill.

While on the books at Wolves, McCarey enjoyed loan spells with Telford, Walsall, York City, Portsmouth and Bury and had a brief stint at Warrenpoint Town in the Danske Bank Premiership prior to signing for Dundalk, for whom he featured in this season’s Europa League group stages.

Everyone at Cliftonville extends a hearty Solitude welcome to our new recruit and we look forward to seeing him in action.
