Darren Murray netted four times as Cliftonville limbered up for this week's Europa League trip to Cyprus with a comprehensive victory over Crumlin United this afternoon. Martin Murray and Stephen Garrett were also on target during a win that would have been significantly more comprehensive but for some early heroics from the home keeper, who denied both Murrays and Garrett with the tie still scoreless. Cliftonville's first two goals came within a minute of one another; Darren Murray heading home from namesake Martin's cross before cheekily dinking the ball over the keeper after being teed up by Tiarnan McNicholl. He completed his hat-trick with another header before Martin Murray got in on the act with a close-range conversion into the top corner. Chris Curran and Ross Lavery both went close to registering the first goal of the second-half ahead of Garrett finding the net at the end of a surging run from deep that took him away from three defenders before a producing pinpoint drive into the bottom corner. The best goal of the game was, however, reserved until last when Murray took receipt of possession inside a busy penalty area, spun his man and twisted back in the opposite direction before executing a strike on the turn, giving the keeper no chance with a firm blast. Youngsters Joe Tully and Daniel Reynolds both went close to extending the Reds' advantage late in the day, while sub keeper Gerard Walker made a brace of stops to preserve Cliftonville's clean sheet.
