Gary Donnelly marked his first start with a perfect hat-trick as Cliftonville lapped up a birthday bonanza to make County
Antrim Shield progress at Bangor's expense this evening.
Three goals to the good at the interval courtesy of Donnellys Jay and Gary, the Reds added to their tally via Davy
McDaid, Ross Lavery and an own goal after Donnelly had completed his treble from the penalty spot.
It was, however, the contest's other Donnelly - Martin - who carved out the first opportunity only to see his fourth minute
blast held by goalkeeper Darren Gibbons.
Noel Halfpenny's timely intervention stopped Daniel Hughes finding the net and Martin Donnelly was once again kept
at bay by Gibbons before the deadlock was broken when Jay Donnelly was on hand to convert Hughes' delivery from
the right.
Gary Donnelly headed home his first of the night on 19 minutes and, though the Seasiders went close when Ethan
Knipe struck the outside of the post with a free-kick, Cliftonville extended their advantage when Caoimhin Bonner teed
Gary Donnelly up for his second strike, his left foot doing the damage on this occasion.
The young midfielder - who netted on his debut when the Reds overcame Lisburn Distillery last month - secured the
matchball nine minutes after the break with a right-footed penalty following Dale Patton's foul on Martin Donnelly.
Substitute McDaid banked the fifth with a precise finish and it was 6-0 when Jude Winchester's low cross was
knocked over the line by a combination of Bangor defenders Keith Armstrong and Brett Widdowson.
McDaid and Winchester then combined to tee Lavery up for the seventh ahead of the visitors registering a late
consolation when Gerard McMullan first earned and then scored a penalty to put the seal on the night's scoring action.
