Cliftonville v Bangor

Cliftonville 3 - 2 Bangor
08 Oct 2019 - 19:45Solitude, Belfast

Joe Gormley netted twice as Cliftonville made heavy weather of this evening’s League Cup Third Round clash with Bangor.

Leading 2-0 through Ruaidhri Donnelly’s lob and Gormley’s instinctive finish at half-time, the Reds failed to establish any sort of rhythm after the interval and saw their advantage halved when a defensive error ended with Mark Cooling pulling one back for the visitors.

Gormley’s second of the night should have made for a more comfortable conclusion to proceedings, only for Joe Gorman’s own goal to hand the Seasiders a fresh belief they retained until the end of what ultimately proved a hard-fought home win.

Cliftonville: Dunne, McDermott, Breen, R Curran, R Donnelly, Wilson, Bagnall, Doherty, Gormley, A Donnelly, Gorman. Subs: Brush, C Curran, Foster, Maguire (for Gormley), McMenamin, Rocks (for Wilson), Snodden.
