High of the storm

Paddy McLaughin says Carrick Rangers have taken the Danske Bank Premiership by storm as he prepares for Cliftonville’s trip to the Loughshore Hotel Arena tomorrow.

The Reds make the journey off the back of Monday’s disappointing defeat to Linfield but, with Niall Currie’s men having suffered a rare off-night when they lost heavily to Larne last time out, McLaughlin is expecting another stern test – and one he says his players must be ready to go to battle in.

“They have done very well this year,” says McLaughlin, whose side secured a hard-fought 1-0 win when the sides last met at the end of August.

“They’ve been excellent and taken the League by storm. They’ve surprised quite a few with their performances and results.

“We don’t expect anything other than a tough game. Niall has done a great job coming up from the Championship, so we don’t expect anything other than a serious battle, which all games are in this division.”
