We’re Inver a battle: Brush

Richard Brush admits there’s never a bad time to be top of the table but insists that status cannot be allowed to distract Cliftonville from the challenge that Larne will present this afternoon.

The Reds also climbed to the top of the Danske Bank Premiership prior to their previous visit to Inver Park, where a battling 1-1 draw commenced a run that saw the team collect just a single point from three games – and Brush is expecting another testing encounter today.

“Larne are a top, top footballing side,” he says.

“It’s not so long since we’ve played them and they gave us a real game. They’ve made it tough for everyone this season and I know it’s a cliché to say you just take things one game at a time but, when the matches come around as quickly as they do at Christmas time, you don’t have any other choice – once one game ends, another’s around straight away.

“It’s always nice to be able to say you’re top of the League but we have to build on everything we’ve done and stay focused.

“It was great to get the win over Crusaders but that game’s gone now and we’ve another one to work on. Larne are so talented and we’ve got to be prepared to go there and keep working as hard as we have been doing.”
