Scanned alive

Conor Scannell rattled in a hat-trick as Cliftonville Olympic overcame their Larne counterparts 4-1 in this afternoon’s Premiership Development League fixture at Solitude.

Though the visitors took an early lead, it was Scannell who would draw the Reds level when he converted Mark Donnelly’s assist just before the half-hour mark.

After a lacklustre first-half display, Brendan Lynch’s side came out with renewed enthusiasm after the interval and were rewarded for their quick start when Kyle Anderson made it 2-1 from Lee O’Brien’s 48th minute corner.

Great work from Peter McKiernan allowed Scannell to extend the Olympic’s advantage eight minutes from time and he would wrap up his treble soon later to put the seal on a win that sends the Reds back to the top of the table.
