Teams eye silver lining

There are two big Cup fixtures on tonight’s itinerary as some of Cliftonville’s young stars maintain their push for silverware.

Cliftonville Olympic travel to Wilgar Park in east Belfast for a George Wilson Cup First Round encounter with Dundela Reserves (7.45pm), with the winners of the game enjoying home advantage against either Ballymena United Reserves or Glentoran II – who play their own Cup clash on Saturday – in the Second Round.

The Reds’ Under 16s, meanwhile, face Ards in the NIFL Academy League Under 16 League Cup Semi Finals.

The game takes place at Londonderry Park in Newtownards (7.45pm) and will be played to a finish, with 20 minutes of Extra Time and a penalty shoot-out scheduled if required.
