Dutch and go for Peter

Cliftonville’s Peter McKiernan has been named in the Northern Ireland Under 17 squad for a mini tournament in the Netherlands later this month.

Stephen Frail’s side will travel to Den Haag for the Elite Round of European Championship Qualifiers, where they will begin their Group 2 commitments against their Dutch hosts next Wednesday night.

They will then return to Sportpark Juliana for a clash with the Czech Republic on March 23 before facing Israel at Sportpark Zeggersloot on March 26.

The eight Elite Round group winners and seven runners-up with the best records against the teams that finish first and third in their sections will progress to the European Championship Finals, which are being held in Ireland between May 3-19.
