Mayor’s the merrier

Three Cliftonville players were part of the Subway NIBFA National League Under 15 side which reached the Quarter Finals of this weekend’s Mayor’s Cup in Las Vegas.

Midfield duo Brodie Spencer and Caolan Millen joined striker Conor Scannell in an 18-strong squad that commenced its campaign with a 4-1 victory over Real Salt Lake Arizona on Saturday before overcoming Utah Soccer Alliance 1-0, courtesy of a Scannell strike, later in the day.

Scannell was on target again when the NIBFA side completed their group stage committments with a 2-0 defeat of ISC Gunners yesterday, however a 1-0 loss to Downtown Las Vegas late last night spelled the end of their involvement in the globally-popular tournament.

Everyone at Solitude extends congratulations to the team on the 100% group phase record which earned a Quarter Final place and we look forward to welcoming Spencer, Millen and Scannell back to our Football Development Centre in the coming days.
