Joe Gormley says Cliftonville will be taking nothing for granted when they host Carrick Rangers at Solitude this evening.

The League Cup Third Round clash presents the Reds with an early opportunity to get back to winning ways following Friday’s injury-time defeat to Crusaders but, keen though he is to work that setback out of the system, Gormley knows Carrick will be just as fired up to secure a Quarter Final place.

“We’re going to have to go into the game the same way we go into for any game and hopefully we can bounce back and get a result,” says the Club’s record goalscorer.

“We’re taking nothing for granted and hopefully we’ll make it into the last eight.”

You can read the full Gormley interview, including his reflections on surpassing Dr Kevin McGarry’s goal milestone, in tonight’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for £2.50.

Alongside boss Barry Gray’s pre-match views, The Red Eye’s ninth issue of the campaign focuses on the Gers’ readjustment to life in the Championship and steps 6, 28 and 121 years back down memory lane, plus plenty more besides.

Our Matchday Magazine has attained a top-three position in the NI Football Programme Collectors’ annual awards poll for the last seven seasons – assuming the runners-up position on six of those occasions – so, if you’re not a regular reader, why not take a look at what you’ve been missing out on?
