Seeking home comforts

Cliftonville will bid to put a run of recent disappointments behind them when they contest the first of three consecutive home games this evening.

After hosting Lisburn Distillery in the First Round of the County Antrim Shield, the Reds welcome Ballymena United to Solitude on Danske Bank Premiership duty on Saturday ahead of tackling Ards at the same venue the following week.

Tonight’s showdown with the Whites comes just three weeks after the Premier Intermediate League side – who overcame north Belfast opposition in the form of Brantwood on Saturday – were beaten 5-1 by Cliftonville in a League Cup Second Round encounter.

On that occasion, Joe Gormley netted twice in addition to Jay Donnelly making it 3-0 before half-time, with Caoimhin McConnell marking his debut with a delightful strike and Conor McMenamin opening his scoring account for the Club.

Barry Gray will, like all associated with the Reds, hope for more of the same tomorrow as we seek to maximise home advantage and generate some winning momentum over the coming weeks.
