Rise and Shane

Cliftonville Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of Shane Grimes.

The experienced defender began his career with hometown side Dundalk in 2005 and, following a spell with Monaghan United, captained Drogheda United before returning to be part of the Dundalk squad that enjoyed League and Cup double success in 2015.

A further League title followed 12 months later with the 30-year-old, who was a half-time substitute in the Lileywhites’ 4-1 victory over Cliftonville in last February’s Oriel Park friendly, departing the Club at the end of last season ahead of putting pen-to-paper on a deal with Reds boss Barry Gray today.

Everyone at Solitude offers Shane a warm welcome to Ireland’s Oldest Football Club as he becomes the second former Dundalk player to join during this Transfer Window following the recent acquisition of Conor McDonald.

The Club can, meanwhile, confirm the return of striker Daniel Reynolds, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Bluefin Sport Championship side Larne.
