Ready for Warr

Levi Ives says a change in competition will not mean a shift on focus as Cliftonville prepare to take on Warrenpoint Town tomorrow.

For the third time in eight seasons, the Fifth Round of the Tennent’s Irish Cup has paired the Reds with the county Down side and, wary of the threat the visitors will pose, Ives is determined that he and his team mates deliver the hard work required to book their place in tomorrow night’s Sixth Round draw.

“There has always been the talk of 1979 and the last time Cliftonville won the Irish Cup,” says the 20-year-old.

“It doesn’t matter what competition we play in – we’ll take each game as it comes really and see what comes of it.

“We just have to be on our game against Warrenpoint, they’re a good side and they’ve some dangerous players that are capable of hurting teams. It was a close game the last time down in Milltown and Jay (Donnelly) scored a late goal to make it 3-1. It’s important we keep getting the results.”
